3 Great and Fun Afternoon Ideas in Hollywood
Visiting Hollywood, California can be an exciting time for the whole family. But you want to make sure you get the most out of your visit. Here are a few ideas on things to do while you are there.
Hollywood Studio Tours are an excellent way to spend the afternoon. Since this is where all the magic happens, there are plenty of studios to visit and get behind the scenes. The Paramount Studio Tour will take you through the only working studio still in operation here. See some of the most famous spots from the movies, and you are allowed to take pictures while the studio is in operation. The Sony Pictures Studio Tour is where "The Wizard Of Oz" and "Mutiny on the Bounty" were filmed. You can also visit the sets of "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune" while here. Disney Backstage Magic Tour is an excellent place to learn all things Disney, though it will probably take more than an afternoon. It will get you into studios you can't get into any other way, such as Jim Henson Studios and Disney Studios.
Visiting Hollywood would be incomplete without seeing Grauman's Chinese Theatre. This whole thing came about when the owner, Sid Grauman, stepped by accident into the sidewalk that
had just been paved. He then asked his first stars, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford and Norma Talmadge to put the first footprints on the sidewalk. Since opening day in 1927, over
200 stars have put their hand prints, footprints and even hoof prints into the pavement.
Step up to your favorite stars prints and see how you size up. Maybe you wear the exact same shoe as your idol. Or maybe your hands are a perfect fit. It is quite exciting to realize that you are touching the exact same spot that your favorite star did.
What a lot of people probably don't realize, is that the theatre is an actual movie theatre. This is where most of the red carpet premiers are held, and if you happen to be there on one of those special days, you can be witness to many stars arriving at the theatre. Grauman's also holds special festivals, events and concerts. So why not take in a movie while you are there.
If all the Hollywood hustle and bustle gets to be a little overwhelming, do something totally out of the ordinary and go bowling! There are several lanes to choose from, and they are not like any lanes you've probably ever been to. There are private rooms available, table top arcade games, DJ booths and a smoking patio. Large projection screens are all around for your convenience, and some lanes even have a classic photo booth. Bowling is one of those fun things to do in hollywood you didn't even think about!
Bowl a few games, have something to eat and enjoy a fun time bowling in a wonderful atmosphere.
Don't forget to keep your eyes open for celebrities. Many of them come to the alleys for a little time off and relaxation themselves, so you never know who you might run into.
